- 2 - First: Research Problem:
Research problem can be stated through the following main question:
What is the role of school journalism in developing social behavior of first grade students of primary education?
Second: Study Goals:
Current study aims at identifying the role played by school journalism in developing social behavior of first grade students of primary education.
Third: Kind and Methods of Research:
Study is descriptive in nature. It used media survey method to identify the role played by school journalism in developing social behavior of first grade students of primary education.
Fourth: Study Sample:
Field Sampling:
Sample consisted of (401) students of first grade of primary education from Qalyubia Governorate. They were between 9-12 years old and randomly selected from male and female students.
Analytic Sampling:
The analytic study was applied on a sample of school journals issued at Qalyubia Governorate schools during the period from September18st , 2011 to April 26th, 2012. Schools are affiliated to Benha, Kafr Shukr, and Tokh educational directorates.
Fifth: Data Collection:
Study tools included: (1) Questionnaire. (2) Content Analysis Form.

Sixth: General Findings of Research:
1- “Journalistic news” ranked first at editorial or journalistic arts of developing and presenting social behavior in school journals “study sample”, followed by journal article in the second rank then journalistic picture in the third, and Journalistic Reportage ranked as fourth. Caricature ranked in the fifth rank. Meanwhile, journal investigation came as sixth, then journalistic conversation ranked seventh, and other arts category came eighth. Lastly, Reader post ranked in the ninth place.
2- Social participation was the most reported in school journalism content “the sample”. On the other hand, “cooperation” behavior ranked second, followed by “honesty” as third between the most reported social behaviors in school journalism content, “Others respect” ranked fourth and “friendship’ ranked fifth between social behaviors. For “other social behaviors” category, it was represented through certain behaviors such as altruism; communication; courage; sacrificing; patriotism; sincerity; innovation; justice; tolerance; patience; independency and other behaviors.
3- The most preferred educational media activities for participants were ranked as follow: Seminars and Lectures were first, argumentation was second, school journalism was third, school broadcasting was fourth, school parliament was fifth, school journalism and broadcasting together was sixth, school theatre was seventh, and school exhibitions was eighth.
4- The most learnt social behaviors through school journalism for the participants were as follow: Listening ranked first, self control was second, opinion expression ranked third, crowd facing was fourth, responsibility was fifth, others respect was sixth, searching information sources was seventh, leadership was eighth, social participation ranked ninth, friendship ranked tenth, the ability to communicate with others was eleventh, honesty ranked twelfth, and lastly was cooperation with the others as thirteenth.

5- There is a statistically significant relationship between the participants’ exposure rates of school journalism and their level of social behavior development.
6- Findings couldn’t verify the hypothesis of “the statistically significant relationship between mean degrees of the participants on the different dimensions of Social Behavior Index according to the educational directorates”.
7- There was no statistically significant relationship between participants representing varied socio-economic standards of first grade primary education on Social Behavior Index.
