Abstract The present study tried to investigate the effect of a blended leaning program on developing first year secondary school students’ writing skills and on reducing their writing apprehension. Statement of the problem: The problem of the present study was manifested in first year secondary school students’ suffering from weaknesses in their writing skills and from writing apprehension. These weaknesses might be attributed to the inappropriate approaches of teaching writing provided to them. Using blended learning program that combines the benefits of both face-to-face learning and online facilities via utilization of effective writing strategies might contribute to significant enhancement of their writing skills and would probably reduce their writing apprehension:Objectives of the Study The present study attempted to achieve the following :-objectives 1- Identifying the effect of using a blended learning program onb developing first year secondary school students’ writing skills. 2- Identifying the effect of using a blended learning program on reducing first year secondary school students’ writing apprehension. 3- Identifying the relationship between the level of students’ performance in writing and their writing apprehension.6 Questions of the study: The present study aimed at finding an answer to the following question:What is the effect of a blended learning program on developing first year secondary school students’ writing skills and on reducing their writing apprehension?” This major question can be branched out into the following questions: 4- How far would a blended learning program develop first year secondary school students’ writing skills? 5- How far would a blended learning program reduce first year secondary school students’ writing apprehension? 6- What was the relationship between students’ performance level in writing and their level of writing apprehension? Hypotheses of the Study: The following hypotheses were tested:- 4- There would be a statistically significant differences between mean scores obtained by the experimental and the control groups on the post test of writing favoring the experimental group. 5- There would be a statistically significant differences between mean scores obtained by the experimental and the control groups on the post scale of writing apprehension favoring reduced writing apprehension of the experimental group. 6- There would be a highly significant correlation between increase in students’ performance level on the post test of writing and decrease in their writing apprehension level on the post scale of writing apprehension. |
