Abstract This Thesis is concerned with introducing the GPS-based synchronized phasor measurement and its different application in power system operation, control, protection……etc. br br Detailed presentation of phasor measurement is given. Then techniques used for allocating Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) are introduced and applied to case study systems depicted from Egypt power system. br br Application of PMU for fault location is conducted through a derived algorithm and is applied to different study systems through computer numerical simulation. br br This algorithm allows the estimation of fault location irrespective of fault resistance, load currents, and source impedance. A computer simulation using EMTDC program of the transmission line under study with various fault types and different locations is carried out. br br The results obtained from applying the considered technique to systems depicted from the Egyptian network show accepted accuracy in locating the fault of different faults types. Hence, it is strongly recommended to use the PMU in the Egyptian Network. |
