Abstract

Twenty-three samples out of 168 examined samples from broiler chicks and layers hens were positive for isolation of Gallibacterium species. The highest percentage of isolation was from layers with percentage of 46.3% while from broilers the percentage was 3.1%. The best sample for detection of Gallibacterium species was internal organs than tracheal swabs with a percentage of 46.9% and 5.9% respectively. The highest rate of isolation from broilers was from El-Fayoum Governorate with a percentage of 12.5%, while El-Dakahlia Governorate showed the highest percentage of isolation in layers with a percentage of 85.7%. The highest rate of isolation from broilers was from Avian breed with a percentage of 9.5% while from layer breeds, the highest percentage was from Shipper breed with a percentage of 80%. By using PCR for detection and typing revealed 8 positive samples out of 23 isolated Gallibacterium species with specific band at 1080 base pair.
