Abstract Administration of pediatric medications encompasses a complex maternal task. It requires understanding of aspects of growth and development and its impact on the approach and techniques of administering medications as well as choosing the appropriate measuring device. Incorporating and applying principles of growth and development into medication administration as well as having knowledge about physiological and developmental differences between children and adults are essential to safely medicating infants and young children. Likewise, Assuring safe administration of medications to children requires following medication rights during preparation and throughout the process of medication administration to infants and young children. The six medication rights include right patient, medication, route, dose, time, and approach. In addition, compliance and adherence to medication regimen and completing the prescribed medication course are also crucial. |
