Abstract Sinus grafting was introduced as a preprosthetic surgical procedure to improve the long term survival of implants placed in the atrophic posterior maxilla without reducing the interarch distance. This procedure is intended to increase bone height in the posterior maxilla through formation of new bone of high quality and quantity in the caudal section of the maxillary sinus. It has been observed that implants placed in the jaws that were bone grafted have more bone to implant contact (BIC) and greater pull-out resistance compared to normal bone |
