Abstract

Some ”toxicological studies on fusariotoxins in dairy
ruminants were obtained in this investigation, the studies
include:
1- The first part aimed to study the prevalence and the
population density of fungi, screening of Fusarium species
isolated for the production of toxins (zearalenone and
zearalenol), and the natural occurrence of different mycotoxins
and also their toxicity in twenty feed samples
collected from the milk production farms and Bani-Korra oil
and commercial concentrate mixture factory in Assiut governorate.
The following results were obtained:
a- Five genera were collected and identified in the Mycology
section, Botany Dept., Faculty of Science, Assiut University.
Fungal colonies were counted per gram in fresh”
sample.
b- The most common genera were Aspergillus, Penicillium,
Rhizopus, and Fusarium.
c- Twenty-two isolates of Fusarium species (~. moniliforme,
F. solani, ~. eguiseti and ~. oxysporum: B, 10, 3 and
1, respectively) were isolated from the samples and
examined for their ability to produce mycotoxins in a liquid medium. Thin layer chrDmatDgraphic analysis
revealed that zearalenDl was detected in 8 iSDlates Df
F. mDnilifDrme and Dne iSDlate Df ~’ sDlani, while
diacetDxyscripenDI was detected in Dne iSDlate Df F.sDlani
d- ChrDmatDgraphic analysis Df the sDxhlet extractiDn Df
the samples revealed that zearalenDne was fDund in 7
samples, aflatDxin 8
1in 3 samples, aflatDxins 81 and
Gl in 4 samples while diacetDxyscripenDl and T-2 tDxin
in Dne sample.
11- Review Df the recDrds in the examined farms revealed
the fDIIDwing:
At EI-Hawateka farm:
1- There was nD clinical deviatiDn frDm nDrmal health Dther
than high percentage Df infertility and SDme cases Df
abDrtiDn.
2- There was a significant decrease in milk yeild in the
winter seaSDn Df 1984 and a highly significant decrease
in the winter and spring seaSDns Df 1985 cDmpared with
that o f 1983.
3- PDst-mDrtum repDrts revealed inflammatiDn Df the genital
Drgans in SDme cases in these periDds (1983-1985) assDciated
with general inflammatiDn Df Dther Drgans.
4- ND variatiDn Dccurred in rate Df abDrtiDn thrDugh the 3
years, it remained nearly cDnstant being 3.6%.
