Abstract Software was developed to generate gear tooth profile, distribute the sum of addendum modification coefficients probably on mating gears and to determine the different gears errors. Accordingly, a model was tested and proved its capability to:- • generate automatically the profile for spur and helical gears with different modifications thus, acting as the virtual master gear. This eliminates the necessity to manufacture master gears. • give adequate methods to distribute the sum of addendum modification coefficients according to the required design criteria. • improve the gear performance through the optimal distribution of the addendum modifications. • help the designer to see and check the shape of the generated gear profile before actually starting its manfacturing. • bring the physical gear into computer domain so that error measurement can be carried out in the computer, thus, saving effort and time. • work as computer aided gear measurement through determining the following errors: • Tooth thickness error • Individual pitch error • Base pitch error • Composite pitch error |
