Abstract

According to this study, the prevalence of SUI is almost identical in spontaneous vaginal delivery and cesarean after obstructed labor; it is probable that the extensive pelvic floor injury in the latter is irreparable with surgical interventioncesarean
section.
On the other hand, elective cesarean section without undergoing labor was found to be significantly associated with a lower prevalence of SUI.
The results in this study show that the incidence of
stress urinary incontinence 6-12 months after delivery was, however, significantly higher in women of groups I (VD Group) and group III (CS after TOL Group) when compared to group II (Elective CS Group) [19/181 (10.5%) vs. 19/181
(10.5%) vs. 7/182 (3.8%), respectively, p=0.03].
We recommend further studies to establish antepartum risk models for the identification of women at increased risk and how labor should be managed to minimize the potential child birth-induced Pelvic floor injuries.
