Abstract

The polysaccharides derived from land plants and seaweeds have been in use for thousands of years gum arabic was a comonent of embalming fluids used by the acient egyptions and red seaweeds were cooked by the chinese during the time of cenfucius to produce a gel which was then flavored and sweetened the production of enormous range of microbial exopolysacc harides has been developed during the past two decades.
