Abstract
This longitudinal case control study aimed to assess the nutritional status and cognitive functions among children who suffered from protein energy malnutrition (PEM) during infancy.
The study was conducted on 33 children who suffered from PEM during infancy. They were recruited from the outpatient clinic, Children’s Hospital, Faculty of medicine, Ain Shams University. Their ages ranged from 3-6years. They were compared to 30 age and sex matched children clinically healthy children who served as controls.
