Abstract

It is well understood that the functional behaviour for any design coponent is affected by its surface characteristics. These characteristics are a function , not only of the machining conditions and cutting tool geometry.
Since, the objective of finishing processes, sush as grinding (with lower metal removed ratc) is to improve the quality of the machined surface, the proper choice of cutting conditinons, may lead to the required characteristics. This is expected to be hampered by the previous topography obtained by periodic machining , in general, (of higher metal removal rate), weher, it is difficult to remove that topography features of the produced surface.
Random machining processes and particularly grinding produce the machined surface through overlapping prrofiles of varying nature and these profiles are also affected by the ductility, structure and grain bongin of the grinding wheelin addition to the dressing techique.
The aim of this work is to emphasise and confirm whsther the previous surface generated by peroodic process such as turning, shaping and milling effect thje fiual finishing process quality.
To reach this aim both experimental and computer simulation have been couducted which revealed a noticcable effect on the machined component quality.
