Abstract

Obesity is a serious universal health problem that has been extensively reported in recent times and continues to place a burden on the public health system internationally. It is associated with a substantial increase in the risk of morbidity and mortality from chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and a range of cancers. Moreover, obesity becomes a major economic issue of the current age, it is well accepted that obesity is costly to individuals and society in terms of financial costs, life years, and quality of life.
The present work aimed mainly to:
1. Clarify the adverse effects of diet induced obesity.
2. Investigate the effects of dietary treatment of obese rats with CR on some metabolic changes.
3. Evaluate the effects of resveratrol and EGCG as natural products, either as monotherapy or in combination with CR, on modulating metabolic changes in obese rats.
