Abstract

- MDCT is widely used for the evaluation of pediatric renal tumors. As thinnslice images afforded by MDCT make it possible to detect smaller lesions than previously, MDCT is useful for the detection and diagnosis of small lesions. Also, it is helpful for evaluating peri-nephric invasion as well as the tumor thrombus of renal neoplasm. Therefore, MDCT is expected to provide accurate preoperative staging of renal cancer. MDCT have been used to provide the urologist with a road map for surgery.
- MDCT has the potential to replace traditional imaging techniques in the evaluation of pathologic processes involving the IVC.
- In this study, included 25 children that complaining of symptoms suggestive of renal masses.
- These Childs are subjected to abdominal examination, ultra son graphic examination and MDCT examination.
-we use the best protocol for detection of renal masses, including (pre contrast scan, arterial, Corticomedullary, nephrographic and delayed phases).
- After research, we found that the most important phases is the nephrographic phase and if a single phase study was to be obtained then it should be the nephrographic phase because Analysis of enhancement for neoplasm is best done in the nephrographic phase of helical CT imaging of the kidneys.
-After CT examination and pathological analysis for the renal masses in the children of this study, we found that wilms tumor was the most common frequent renal neoplasm in children. The second most common renal neoplasm in children was renal lymphoma.
