Abstract

Consanguineous marriages are marriages contracted between blood relatives. In clinical genetics,a consanguineous marriage is commonly defined as a union between a couples related as second or closer . consanguinity is influenced by geographic, demographic, religious, cultural, and socio-economic factors The highest rates of consanguineous unions were associated with low socio-economic status, low education, and living in rural areas.
