Abstract

This study represent the experience of two centers of excellence in laparoscopic surgery (Cairo University Hospital in Egypt and San Bassiano Hospital in Italy) with transperitoneal laparoscopic Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty that was performed on 82 patients (42 females and 40 males).
The mean age was 38.8 years (range 15-76 years), The mean total operative time was 197.86 minutes, conversion to open surgery was necessary in two out of 82 patients, no significant intraoperative complications recorded in our study group, with the mean blood loss 55 ml.
The mean hospital stay was 4.29 days (range 3-14 days), the mean time of regain of intestinal sounds was 15.46 hours, the mean time for drain removal was 6.46 days, the mean time till urethral catheter removal postoperatively was 5.91 days, while the mean time till removal of the Double J stent postoperatively was 29.91 days.
