Abstract

The use of computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) has increased substantially in past two decades. More and more designers rely on the geometric model of a product that is created using the CAD/CAM system for validating their design, improving the quality and efficiency of the design, failure analysis of the product, virtual manufacturing and for the future modifications of a product design. However, there are objects which did not originally been described using a CAD system and it is becoming necessary to develop geometric models for such objects, so that they can be handled on same terms as other geometric models. This technique describe the definition of reverse engineering of dimensions. This work aim to describe and build a cost effective technique for Reverse Engineering (RE).
