Abstract Optimal Transmission Switching (OTS) could be deployed in a step towards more smarter and controllable transmission system to enhance sys- tem economics as a direct objective of smart grids. In this dissertation, OTS was integrated into the security constrained optimal power flow (SC-OPF) problem to provide economic benefits for power system while enhancing in SC-OPF problem utilizing the AC model reduces the total operating costs of power system and produces accu- <rate and practical solutions. A meta- heuristic optimization tool called Seeker Optimization Algo- rithm with some modifications is developed in way to reach optimal solution and reduce computation time. The effectiveness of the proposed model was exhibited using the standard IEEE 30 and 57 bus test systems and Western Delta Network as a part of the unified Egyptian network. |
