Abstract

Numerical and experimental studies of the performance of solar energy assisted hybrid air conditioning system (SEAHACS) are investigated. The desiccant wheel herein is made of honeycombed silica gel, one-rotor six stages, in which two-stages for dehumidification process, two-stages for pre- cooling process and two-stages for regeneration process are realized by only one wheel. Three air streams are involved for each different stage in the present system. The system consist of rotating desiccant wheel, low speed electrical motor 52 revih, counter flow plate heat exchanger, direct evaporative cooler, solar heater, electrical air heater, flat plate solar collector, fans, and control system.
