Abstract

Morbid obesity is now known as silent creeping epidemic to the universe. It is generally accepted that morbid obesity is defined as BMI over 40 kg/m BMI is now the formula of measurement in handling the morbid obese patient weights.Our study is a survey to evaluate the current impact of managing obese patients after bariatric surgery on the practice of nutrition support and to assess the various approaches to nutrition assessment and interventions. Our candidates of this study were 60 morbid obese patients divided into 3 equal groups who underwent gastric banding group I), sleeve gastrectomy (group II) and gastric bypass (group III) as they are considered the most widely performed bariatric procedures. Each group contains 20 morbid obese patients fulfilling the selection criteria mentioned before. Some candidates has a co-morbid diseases namely hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. All candidates were preoperatively educated and instructed about the surgical procedures, future size of their stomach, the diet schedule they will follow firmly and results hoped to occur.
