Abstract The present entitled thesis ”Applied Coordination Chemistry of Some Azo Compounds” comprises three chapters. Chapter I: It includes the literature survey on the coordination chemistry of gallic acid and its azo compounds and some of its metal complexes, some applications for these systems are given. The chapter is ended with the aim of the work. Chapter ll: It describes the experimental part of the thesis. The preparation of gallic acid metal complexes. Synthesis of [2- (phenyl azo 3,4, 5 trihydroxy benzoic acid)], [2- (2-hydroxy phenyl azo 3,4, 5 trihydroxy benzoic acid)] and [2-(2-carboxy phenyl azo 3,4, 5 trihydroxy benzoic acid) ] ligands, derived from the parent gallic acid and their metal complexes are given. The analytical data depict the formation of complexes with different stoichiometries, 1: 1, 1:2 and 1:3 (M: L), the working procedures and standardization of the instruments used for the study are reported. Different spectral measurements are used, UV- VIS, IR, ESR of copper complexes, magnetic susceptibility and thermal analysis (DT A and DSC). Statistical programs were used to obtain different correlations between the data. Elemental analysis for the metal complexes was done to know the stoichiometry of the complexes. |
