Abstract

The six experiment presented here were conducted experimental farm of Qubba Botanical Garden during e three seasons 1975 , 1976 and 1977. Three tulip Dutch t Apeldoorn t Gudoshnik and Renovm beside the ocnlly produced bulbs of the same varieties were planted six separate experiments during 1976 and 1977.
Flowers qualities • average plant height and weight t ’e percentage content of nitrogen t phosphorus t potassium and non reduced sugars of the oduced bulbs were
Bulbs were planted in three planting dates • Besides , ~ee combined commerciallly grade fertilizers ( ammonium calcium super phosphate and potassium sulphate ) to each eA~eriment in two levels beside the check two seasons ( 1975 and 1976) for the imported and
and 1977) for the locally produced bulbs of the th-
e tulip varieties.
The results obtained for the two secsons are summarized follows :
! Delaying the planting dates short~ned t the period
ooeded for flowering with inferior vegetative and flowering chilracteristics ( flower stalk length and the petal length) ~ Adding the fertilizer levels resulted in prolonging the period needed for flowering •
~ Adding the fertilizer delayed flowering of the Renown about two weeks than the Gudoshnik and Apeldoorn
Adding the fertilizers increased the flower stalk and the etal length for the locally produced bulbs • While it did not ~fect that of the imported’bulbs
January planting waS more favourable for production of fresh weight of produced Renown and Gudoshnik b~lbst planting in February favoured the Apeldoorn variety~ ! High fertilizer level produced more bulbs and better frresh weights of the bulbs •
Early planting produced heavier bulblets weight •
• Nitrogen t phosphorus and potassium contents of the imported bulbs decreased by delaying the planting date
Adding nitrogen t phosphorus or increasing their levels resulted in increasing their contents in the three imported tulip varieties •
• Reduced and non reduced sugars contents were decreased delaying the planting date •
Adding any of the fertilizer levels increased the red-
