Abstract

Developmental coxavara (DCV) is a well-known pediatric hip disorder that is associated with triplanar deformity of the proximal femur. Several techniques of proximal femur osteotomies have being cited in the literature, with variable outcomes.Recently, a percutaneous technique with application of a low-profile Ilizarov external fixator for acute opening wedge has been described in the correction of femoral deformity associated with DCV.
In the period between January 2009 and January 2012, a prospective study was conducted involving 30 patients (33 hips) with DCV and a preoperative H-E angle of 60 degrees or greater on coronal radiographs, their average age was 7.2 years (range 3-15 years). For whom we performed subtrochanteric valgus derotation osteotomy and were followed up in Abo El Reesh children’s hospital.
