Abstract The principal problem facing Egypt today resides in the discrepancy between the very rapid numerical increase of human population and the slow expansion of a relatively small area of cultivated land, that situation may lead to a sharp decline in per capita income and to a continuous lowering of the standard of living. The present work aims at using satellite images and GIS techniques for soil and land use mapping d determining their capability and suitability for growing crops of some soils ljacent to Manzala, Burullus and Idko lakes in the north part of the Nile Delta The first area is located in Dameitta and Dakahlia Governorates. |
