Abstract HCVis a major cause of acute hepatitis and chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer .Globally , an estimated 200 million persons are chronically infected with HCV (WHO,2009). This study included 50 patients with H C V related chronic liver disease ,selected from out patient clinic, tropical medicine department, ELLMinia university Hospital, in the period from January 2011 to August 2011. Group 1; This group included 25 patients. They all are treatment naeive chronic HCV patients. Group2; This group included 25HCV patients under treatment with interferon and ribavirin. On studying the relation between grade of fibrosis and level of viremiawe found no correlation with weak correlation between histological activity and level of HCV-RNA. On studying the relation between platelet count and liver enzymes with both level of HCV -cAg and level of viremia we found a fair correlation between platelet count and both level of HCV -cAg and level of viremia ,also a fair correlation between degree of elevation of liver enzymes and level ofHCV-cAg. On studying the relation between grade of liver fibrosis in liver biopsy and platelet count we found week correlation. |
