Abstract

Research in the area of biological effects of extremely high voltage transmission line is still cUlTently active; this is due to the increasing interest and the desire to extend the transmission line voltages. Therefore, attention of some of researchers have been given to the study of the electrostatic and electromagnetic fields near high voltage transmission line, and their effects on exposed human bodies.
In this thesis, established numerical method as well as a developed numerical method is used to calculate the electrostatic and electromagnetic fields produced by transmission line. For the electrostatic field, the computations are performed using the charge simulation method and the image method. The electrostatic field under high voltage transmission line (500 kV) is calculated, a comparative analysis between 2-D straight-line technique and 3-D integration technique is presented, electric field evaluatiqn under the hybrid ACIDC transmission line is presented and finally, the electrostatic field distribution for Egyptian 500 kV transmission line two circuits running parallel to each other is presented. Magnetic field, evaluation under the ac and hybrid A CIDC transmission line, is also, presented.
A computational model representing a human body is presented to study the interaction between power frequency electric field and human bodies.
