Abstract Lifestyles are patterns of behavior or ways an individual typically lives. These patterns reflect his or her values and beliefs. The World Health Organization points out that 60% of the quality of an individual’s health and life depends on his/her behavior and lifestyle. Also, WHO estimates that 70% of premature deaths among adults are due to behavior (smoking, illicit drug use, reckless driving) initiated during adolescence. Moreover, numerous publications have shown that practicing health promotion behaviors decreases the occurrence of disease and lowers the death rate. A good health-promoting behavior depends on the living habits adopted during early years. Therefore, adolescence is a gate way to health promotion since key behavior patterns that influence health and longevity have their origin in adolescence. The aim of the study is to determine lifestyle of preparatory schools students at urban and rural Qena city.
