Abstract This study was carried out at the farm of Environmental Studies and Research Institute, Minufiya University at Sadat City toto evaluate the performance of six canola genotypes and their F1 crosses grown under two locations of soil and three levels of drought to estimate heterosis, potence ratio, general and specific combining ability, and type of dominant genes caused heterotic effects via potence ratio. The data of fourteen traits i.e. days to 50%flowering, plant height, no. of primary branches, no. of secondary branches, no. siliquas / plant, no. of seed/siliquas, seed yield/plant, 1000-seed weight, oil percentage, proteins percentage, for each experiment was analyzed using Griffing (1956) method II model I to estimate the general and specific combining ability. The obtained results could be summarized as follows: 1. First experiment: Salinity experiment. 1.1. Variation and interaction with locations: Location mean squares were found to be highly significant for all traits. Genotypes, parents and the resultant fifteen crosses mean squares were found to be highly significant for all traits studied. Parent vs. crosses mean squares as an indication to average heterosis overall crosses, were found to be highly significant for days to 50%flowering, oil percentage and plant height at the two locations and their combined data. The interaction of genotypes, parents, crosses, and parent vs. crosses with locations were found to by significant for all traits studied. |
