Abstract

Depression is a common disease of different reasons. There are many anti-depressant drugs used in their treatment. Most of them have many side effects on some body organs of human and experimental animals. Fluoxetine is commonly used anti-depressant drug acts as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It was reported to have many side effects on some body organs. Curcumin, the main yellow bioactive component of turmeric, has been shown to have a wide spectrum of biological actions including its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antiviral, and hypocholestermic activities. The present study examined the histological, histochemical, immunohistochemical and biochemical effects of fluoxetine on testis of rat and the ameliorative effect of curcumin.
