Abstract Nowadays, during this moment of Global change, the world became more urban than previous eras in human history, besides, the crucial role of cities has became more serious as sites of economic competitiveness in age of globalization which is considered to be experienced by human kind since the dawn of history it is now called World/Global cities. World/Global cities are not the end of the road, in the Globe those cities, only who could achieve the target and catch the train of Globalization, would be able to gain more investment, to grow and to help raising its quality of life. Cairo, regardless its huge legacy both historic and cultural which was once the third world political and liberation nexus, is on fire as a result of other cities confrontation in the role in the Middle East and Africa. Cairo is having a share of everything which enableing it to compete Globally even that it is far away from the high ranked cities like New York, London, Tokyo and Paris Therefore ,the aim of this thesis is to discuss the real meaning of Globalization and World/Global cities, exploring the requirements to enable the formation of World/Global cities and consequently to comprehend the possibility that Cairo could be ranked as a World/Global city or not. Finally, concluded with a quantitative and qualitative analysis, based on explored factors regarding the Global power city index beside those of a good Competitive Identity Strategy, for Greater Cairo 2050 Vision which is considered to be the driving force for the entire city towards the high ranked Global cities. Not to forget to mention how 25 January Revolution Affected Cairo’s Image as a point of advantage towards Globalization and city Branding. |
