المستخلص Praise be to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and placed no crookedness therein. He made it a source of guidance to mankind and a book confirming the scriptures that preceded it and reigning supreme over them. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the one to whom the Qur’an was sent piecemeal so that he could recite it to mankind. May Allah send His peace and blessings on his family and honorable companions who recited the Qur’an in the best of manners, applied its rulings and believed in its allegorical and decisive ٢٣٦ verses. May Allah be pleased with the grand reciters who transmitted the Qur’an to us with its melodious modes of recitation. May Allah send His peace and blessings on those who follow their way until the Day of Judgment. To proceed, Arabic has been honorably destined to be the language of the Glorious Qur’an, the book which Allah has revealed down to His Messenger in a clear Arabic tongue. It is the inexhaustible fountain of knowledge and the book which no falsehood can approach it. It is Allah’s miracle which was bestowed upon His Messenger so that he may therewith challenge the Arabs who reached the pinnacle of eloquence and rhetoric. They could not bring forth the shortest chapter like thereof. Allah has praise the Qur’an as He stated, ”It is a revelation from the Lord of all creation. The spirit of truth ٢٣٧ descended therewith on your heart so that you become of the warners. It is revealed in a clear Arabic tongue.” (Ash- Shu`ara: ١٩٢-١٩٥). Ever since the era of penmanship and up to now many books have been written for the purpose of serving the sciences related to the Qur’an, especially in the field of standard and irregular readings of the Qur’an. Grammarians, linguists and scholars of Qur’an readings took great interest in conducting intensive studies about variant readings of the Qur’an. Despite these studies, we still in need of researching in the most honorable of all sciences, namely the sciences of the Qur’an. I found myself motivated to research in the standard recitation of Abu As-Sammal Al-`Adawi. Ibn Hayyan has established this recitation in his commentary of the Qur’an. ٢٣٨ Reasons for choosing this topic - The and therefore any research related to it is considered a noble act.Holy Qur’an is the noblest of all books - The Holy Qur’an reached us without any distortion. Accordingly, it was necessary that grammarians and linguists should protect it against the recitation mistakes committed by those non-Arab Muslims. - Abu As-Sammal’s mode of reading of the Qur’an is closely related to phonology and structure. - Abu As-Sammal’s mode of reading is in conformity withthe readings of some companions like Ibn `Abbas, `Ali ibn Abu Talib and the grand reciter Ibn Mujahid. |
