Abstract

Rheumatic heart disease ranks first among cardiac problems encountered in Egyptian patients.
Rheumatic mitral valve disease with or Without aortic valve disease is considered the conimonest lesion and sometimes it is associated with a variable degree of tricuspid valve disease which may be organic or functional
On the other hand, organic tricuspid valve affection accompaning other valvular lesions is commonly overlooked in the preoperative evaluation of patients with rheumatic heart disease, accounting for unfavourable postoperative results.
With introduction of high resolution two-ljiinensional echocardiography and doppler techniques new frontiers are opened for assessment of tricuspid valve apparatus with accurancy.
The criteria for diagnosis of tricuspid valve
disease are not well established and defined.
AIM OF WORK
Hence this work aimed at
1-Define criteria for echo-doppler diagnosis of tricuspid valve disease and its evaluation.
2-Study the prevelance of tricuspid valve disease among Egyptian patients with rheumatic heart disease.
3—Compare echo-doppler data to invasive catheter data and surgical procedure in different groups.
4-Compare echo-doppler data to echo-duppler dala after surgical procedure, 3 months later.
