Abstract
At the very commencement of pregnancy, i.e. the time of blastocyst implantation, there is anatomically only one distinguishable commun]ca— flon system between fetus and mother, that is cc— tabl ished between (level oping trophob last and uterine decidua and maternal blood. This biomolecular communication system is operatioita from before the time of niclat ion and pers ists through the t iine of part urit ion (Ilytten anti (‘ham— berJuin, 1992)

1— Implantation of blastocyst and trophoblastic i n vu s i on.
2— Maternal recognition of pregnancy, rescue of corpus luteum and immunological acceptance.
3— Maintenance of pregnancy and myome trial quiescence.
4— Endocrine fitnct ion involving maternal adaptation to pregnancy, mobilization ot nutrients, supply of certain hormones and enzymes neces— sary for Ea and E4 synthesis and mammary.
