Abstract

this investigation was carried out during the 2007 and 2008 summer
seasons at Shandaweel Agric. Research Station, Sohag governorate to
study the effect of two growth regulators i.e. Indol acetic acid (IAA) and
Gibberellic aced (GA) and its three application methods (soaking, spraying and both
of them) under two nitrogen levels (50 and 100 kg N./fed.) on commercial grain
sorghum cultivars (Dorado variety and Shandaweel-1 hybrid). Sowing dates were on
21st and 18th June in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Two experiments were conducted in
each season, the first one assigned to Dorado variety and the second to Shandaweel-
1hybrid in 2007 season and it is repeated in 2008 season. Each experiment consists of
72 plots. Each plot included 6 ridges, 6 m. long and 60 cm. apart (plot area: 6 x 6 x
0.6 = 21.6 m.2) for Shandaweel-1 and Dorado cultivars. Sowing had done in hills
spaced 15 cm. and two plants/hill were left three weeks from sowing at both seasons.
Each experiment was designed in split-split plot design with four replications.
Nitrogen levels were located in the main plots while the types of growth regulators
and application methods were distributed to sub and sub sub plots, respectively.
