Abstract
This study presents a solution for a public alarming and water level supervision telemetry system using GSM network as a platform. The telemetry system includes a control center, a pilot GSM network, and a telemetry unit consisting of a telemetry server, an alarming device and water level sensors.
On the other hand, this study was performed to implement a pilot wireless telemetry system that can be used for civil protection and disaster relief aaplications. it consists of three parts, namely a control unit, a GSM network and a telemetry unit.
The purpose of the presented telemetry system is to implement and apply two telemetry functions. The first one is wireless transmission of water level measurement data from a sensor device over the GSM network to the control center where they are stored and analyzed. The second function is to send warning danger messages to activate the public alarming system. The warning system corresponds to the type of threat. Activation and deactivation of the alarm device in the elemetry unit is controlled from the control center. The control signals are sent over the GSM network. The telemetry unit consists of a communication modem, a personal computer with a program application, and a proper program application for sensor device and alarm system operation. In this system the measured data are not sent continuously but only sent when the data value is changed, so it provides a minimum size of data reserved in the room service thus reduce the cost, compared to the other systems that send measured data continuously and hence reserve the channel all the time and increase the cost. Also the system performs two way actions, and alarm system which determin the error.
