Abstract
An algorithm is presentde for optimization of steel bridges based on General Geometric Programming technique.The algorithm is applied also to presented steel bridges. AFortran program (GGP94) is is developed based on the General Geometric Programming technique and verified using several literature examples. Eight types of steel bridges are presented to illustrate the application of the algorithm to such bridges. Several formulas and flowcharts were developed to assist future design of steel bridges.
