Abstract

Search theory deals with the problem faced by searchers who 1”’,1 wish to detect a lost target by calculating the probability of detecting the target or obtaining the expected value of the cost required for finding the target. The target is either stationary or moving according to any stochastic process. This problem has various applications for mention, but a few: (1) The optimal choice of drilling depths in the search for an underground mineral. (2) Search and rescue on the sea or in populated areas and search missions for enemy targets. The searcher always follows a deterministic strategy while in some cases of search problem the searcher follows a random process such as the predators search for their food sites also the ~ch of pees for flower.
