Abstract In the present study, seven layer and four broiler farms located at Assiut, El-Minia and Sohag governorates in Upper Egypt were investigated to determine the possible sources of different members of Enterbacteriaceae infection in different poultry farms. 54 Air, 54 water, 40 litter, 54 feed, 280 swabs of the surfaces and 54cloacal swabs samples were collected from the investigated farms and examined bacteriologically for isolation of different members of Enterobacteriaceae that were present in these samples. The frequency and incidence percentages of isolation of such organisms were briefly discussed. All the isolated Salmonella strains and some of the isolated E. coli strains were serologically identified, serotyping of E. coli O157 strains, detection of E. coli O157:H7 and Salmonella organisms by PCR and confirmation of the serologically detected Salmonella typhimurium by multiplex PCR were done and discussed in the present study. |
