Abstract SAFTY AND EFFICACY OF TRANSDERMAL FENTANYL VERSUS ORAL MORPHINE IN PEDIATRIC CANCER PAIN This study demonstrated the safety, efficacy and usefulness of TTS-fentanyl treatment for chronic cancer pain in children. Our results indicate that this approach affords an easy, safe, well tolerated alternative to oral opioid treatment and effective pain relief, with adverse effects playing a minor role and being controlled using adjuvant medication and less than morphine MST especially nausea, vomiting and constipation. The analgesia reported was acceptable in most cases and similar to morphine groups and the global impression of the preparation by patients was very good to excellent. But a larger study is required to confirm these observations. |
