Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted during the two successive seasons of 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 in Sherben District , Dakahlia Governorate to study the investigate the impacts of cropping intensification on soil quality and nutrient uptake by wheat plants , determine the effect of compost addition on wheat and soil properties , estimate the response of wheat plants to different levels of N and K fertilization and maximize wheat crop yield and improving its quality under the conditions of cropping intensification .
36 treatments were arranged in a split-split block design, which were the simple possible combination between three treatments of organic fertilizers, four levels of N and three levels of K mineral fertilizers. The total area of the experimental field was (583.2m2). The following treatments were used:
The organic fertilizers were adopted as main plots and treatment of organic forms :
1-Control (without organic fertilization).
2- Compost (38 ton fed-1).
Nitrogen application levels were arranged as sub plots, and treatments of nitrogen fertilization were arranged as follows:
1- 0 kg N fed-1(control).
2- 60 kg N fed-1 (75% of the recommended dose).
Potassium fertilization levels were adopted as sub- sub plots as follows:1- 0 kg K2O fed-1.
2- 50 kg K2O fed-1.
The obtained results of these investigation can be summarized in:-
5.1.Fresh and dry weight of plants (g plant-1):-
Regarding the effect of organic fertilization on fresh and dry weight (g plant-1) , the mean values of fresh and dry weight (g plant-1) were significantly increased by adding organic fertilization as compared to the untreated treatment, the highest mean values of fresh and dry weight of plants were realized for the plants treated with adding FYM, the same trend was happened during both seasons.
•The mean values of fresh and dry weight of wheat shoots (g plant-1) were significantly increased due to increasing N-fertilization from 0 N kg fed-1 up to 100 N kg fed-1.
5.3. 1000-grains Weight, Number of grains/spike and protein %:-
•1000-grains (g), No. of grains/spike and protein % were significantly increased due to adding organic materials, compared with the untreated plants the highest values of 1000-grains (g), No. of grains/spike and protein % are realize for the plant fertilize with FYM while, the lowest values were obtained with the untreated plants during both seasons.
CONCLUSION:
Under the same conditions of this investigation, it could be recommended that the use of FYM as organic materials in presence of mineral fertilization with 100 kg N fed-1 and 50 kg K2O5 fed-1 gave the highest yield of wheat plants with better quality.
