Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the most important risk factors of osteoporosis, knowledge, attitudes and practice towards bone health among adolescent females aged 11-18 years in el-minia city. Results : care about body image and fear from obesity which may occur from drinking milk is an important risk factor of osteoporosis (74.2%) followed by lack in milk consumption (71.3%) then lack in performance of physical activity (62.5%). Exposure to second hand smoking which is an important risk factor for osteoporosis is prevalent among 56.3% of the participated adolescent females. Modifiable risk factors (as dietary factors, life styles and smoking) are more prevalent than non modifiable risk factors as family history of both fracture and osteoporosis. |
