Abstract

Abstract Progressive Type -II censored sampling is an important method of obtaining data in life-time studies. Live units removed early on can be readily used in other tests, thereby saving cost the experimenter, and a compromise can be achieved between time consumption and observation of some extreme values.
This thesis consists of five chapters:
In chapter one, introduction, review of literature, basic concepts and description of the thesis will be presented.
In chapter two, we will derive new recurrence relations satisfied by the single and product moments of progressively type-II right censored ordered statistics of size m from a sample of size n with censoring scheme (R₁,R₂,...,R_{m}) and its truncated form are established from some useful distributions like the Inverse Weibull distribution, the generalized exponential distribution and the Weibull gamma distribution. Also, some special cases are developed from these results.
In chapter four, the approximate moments using transformation will be obtained. Depending on these approximate moments, the best linear unbiased estimates of the location and scale parameters is derived. Also, the maximum likelihood estimates of the location and scale parameters based on progressively type-II right censored ordered statistics will be derived.
In chapter four, new recurrence relations satisfied by the single and product moments of the progressively type II right censored order statistics from general class of distributions and its truncated form. These recurrence relations are used to derive several recurrence relations for distributions as: The exponential distribution, the Pareto distribution, Weibull distribution, the Lomax distribution, the Gompertz distribution, the Log logistic distribution, the Beta of II distribution, the Beta of I distribution, For Burr Type XII distribution, the Extreme value I distribution.
Finally, in chapter five, the applications of progressively type-II right censored order statistics related by some life-time distributions will be introduced. In addition, we suggest some ideas could lead to future research in this area.
