Abstract

The surveying work depends on geodetic control networks, Egyptian triangulation networks started before 1907 as second order in delta area. The first order networks were initiated in 1907. The first srder geodetic horizontal control networks of egypt consist of two main networks, network 1 and network2.
Network 1 was adjusted by ESA in section by the method of condition equation, in two - dimensional frame.
In the last two decades, GPS proved itself as a strong geodetic and surveying tool. Accordingly surveyors are using GPS in most of their applications to obtain high precision, its easiness, low cost related to the traditional techniques.Consequently many GPS data points, related to the world geodetic system 1984 are obtained. Among them 16 common points of network 1 are defined on helmert 1906 and WGS 84 with high accuracy.
This thesis presents the egyptian geodetic network 1, a description of the global positioning system and the complete derivations and explanation of the three-dimensional geodetic computations.Also this study covers the techniques of least squares adjustment.
The main task of ths thesis is to perform adjustment solution in three dimensions for the egyptian control network1, first related to the egyptian geodetic datum helmert 1906 and secondly related to the WGS 84 which is the datum of the GPS observations using the 16 common points.For that a software package was developed by the author, using FORTAN77 language, with micresoft FORTRAN power station version 4.0.This program used least squares adjustment in three dimensions and this version is run under windows and can adjust a large 3-D control networks, without any problem in storage.
