Abstract

The first chapter contains a literature survey includes the importance and structural chemistry of azo compounds and their different complexes.
The second chapter involves prepration of a series of 5-(4-methoxyphenylazo)-2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone (HL), 5-(4-methylphenylazo)-2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone(HL), 5-(4-phenylazo)-2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone(HL3), 5-(4-chlorophenylazo)-2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone (HL4) and 5-(4-nitrophenylzao)-2-thioxo-4-yhiazolidinone(HL5)and their VO(IV), pd(II)and adduct complexes.
The third chapter this chapter included four parts:
Part one shows the synthesis of an interesting series of heterocyclic mixing ligand of oxovanadium(IV) complexes by the reaction of vanadium (IV) sulphate with rhodanine azo(HLn)in the presence of diketon(LH).
Part two involves prepared a heterocyclic azo derivative by coupling diazotized rhodanine with p-derivatives aniline.
Part three explains of 5-(4-alkyI phenylazo)-2- thioxothiazolidin-4-one HLn have been synthesized and characterized with various phsico-chemical techniques.
Part four explains the synthesized ligands were screened for their antimicrobai activity against four bacterial species.
