Abstract

Human larynx have a pivotal role in protecting the airway, breathing and phonation. Since most patients who suffer from throat diseases offices with dysphonia. These disturbances, especially in people who use their voices professionally. Each patient who presents with dysphonia should be subject to a comprehensive examination of the head and neck. Benign lesions of the larynx are varied widely.
Benign lesions of the larynx are varied widely, they are widely diverse. They include the functional lesions of psychobiologic reaction, paralyses due to extra laryngeal disease, inflammatory masses due to vocal abuse, and true neoplasm of the intrinsic larynx. they are of interest and importance to the laryngologist, not only because of the symptoms which they produce by interference with the normal functions of the vocal mechanism or by obstruction of the respiratory tract but because of the necessity of distinguishing them from malignant laryngeal lesions.
Most lesions of the larynx are multifactorial in etiology and are related to irritation from possible reflux, allergies, smoking, inadequate hydration, vocal abuse ,and/or chronic vocal hyperfunction.
Classification of Benign Laryngeal Lesions, There are a variety of benign disorders of the larynx that result in hoarsness. The more common lesions are as classified by Cohen (1983).
(A) Congenital.
(C) Inflamations lesions. (E) Parasitic infection. (G) Benign neoplasm.
(B)Tra uma tic.
(D) fungal infections.
(F) Wegener’s granulomatosis. (H) Other.
