Abstract

Dysphagia is considered one of the major complications following stroke with incidence varying between 29% and dependent on the definition of dysphagia, patient selection, time of assessment and type of evaluation (Martino et al., 2005). Dysphagia can occur after unilateral stroke. It is a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality following stroke because of aspiration-related complications, malnutrition, dehydration and the risks associated with enteral feeding (Smithhard et al., 1996). Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation can be used as a therapeutic line for post stroke dysphagia via enhancing corticobulbar excitability to swallowing centers in the brain stem (Singh and Hamdy 2006).
