Abstract Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is a malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor cells that proliferate and replace the normal hematopoietic cells of the bone marrow. These lymphoblasts replacing the normal bone marrow elements result in a marked decrease in the production of the normal blood cells. Diagnostically, detection of CD34 has a central role in the immunophenotypic identification of abnormal blast populations in bone marrow, peripheral blood and tissues by flow cytometric and immunohistochemical analysis. However, not allleukemic blasts express CD34. |
