Abstract Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome in children is commonly associated with minimal change disease and response to steroid therapy.Steroid dependent patients, frequent relapsers and steroid resistant are all patients with chronic form of the disease and need long-term treatment with corticosteroids and may need additional treatments such as cyclophosphamide, chlorambucil, high dose pulse methyl prednisone and cyclosporine.Development of steroid dependency represents a significant therapeutic challenge in steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome.Steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome is often characterized by persistent proteinuria and progression to chronic renal disease. This retrospective study was carried out by revising the files and taking histories from 100 patients with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome in Pediatric Nephrology Outpatient Clinic, Children`s hospital,Tanta University. |
