Abstract In our study we aimed to assess the clinical significance of ascitic fluid complement C3 in cirrhotic patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis for determining its diagnostic value for selecting patients who are at risk of developing SBP. It included 60 patients with liver cirrhosis with ascites who are divided into two groups according to occurance of SBP. All patients were subjected to history taken,complete clinical examination,routine laboratory investigations,chemical and physical analysis of ascitic fluid,ascitic fluid complement C3,abdominal ultrasonography,chest x-ray and upper endoscopy. |
