Abstract
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Heavens and the Earths, for enabling me to shed some light on the message of the Prophetic speeches and their translation. I pray to Him to accept this work and benefit me with it in this life and in the Hereafter. I would like to thank Allah, the Merciful and the Compassionate, for making all this work possible and for granting me with the best teachers, family and friends.
In fact this thesis gives me a chance to express my sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude to all those who affected me morally, mentally, spiritually and even materially in my research. My huge thanks go to my supervisors, Prof. Hesham Mohammad Hasan and Prof. Abdulfattah Moftah for their patience and hard work in reading, giving advice and welcoming my telephone calls.

Abstract
The main aim of this study is to identify the main problems (obstacles or hindrances) that confront the translator, with respect to translating euphemism in the Prophetic speeches, in order to find solutions, as possible. The prime purpose of this study is decoding cross-linguistic features in the light of Halliday’s Functional Model and his model of transitivity system to reveal cross-genre and cross cultural variations in the Prophetic speeches. The discussion shows that the translator, in order to give an equivalent-effect of the source text, should have a good knowledge of both the source and target languages.
The thesis comprises six parts; four chapters, introduction, and conclusion. The introduction introduces scope, rationale, limitations, sources and procedures of the study beside literature review. The first chapter is a theoretical background about euphemism as one of the most important linguistic features of the written and oral texts, and its motivations. Then, there is the second chapter which tackles English and Arabic euphemism beside their subjects. The third chapter tackles functional preliminaries. The fourth and last chapter tackles an analysis of the Functional Model and Transitivity Model used in the analysis of the translation problems of euphemisms in the Prophet Speech. The conclusion crystallizes the research questions, findings and recommendations of the study.
